Engineering Technician (Civil)

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Requirement:
To qualify for the GS-5 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the Federal GS-4 level or higher, that has equipped you with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes knowledge of basic standard engineering principles, methods and practices sufficient to perform the duties of this position. Examples of such specialized work experience includes:
Preparation of simple engineering sketches, practices, and structures; Preparation of design computations and estimates for quantities and cost; Inspect work under construction; OR Substitution of Education for Specialized
Experience:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics; OR A combination of education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Combinations of experience and education must total at least 100% as outlined in OPM Qualifications policy. To qualify for the GS-6 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the Federal GS-5 level or higher, that has equipped you with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience include designing, installing and maintaining a variety of routine engineering conservation measures in public and privately owned land including farms, parks, shoreline, dams and reservoir areas, forests, and/or wildlife habitats; OR Substitution of Education for Specialized
Experience:
Successful completion of one year of graduate education in a discipline such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR A combination of education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Combinations of experience and education must total at least 100% as outlined in OPM Qualifications policy. To qualify for the GS-7 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the Federal GS-6 level or higher, that has equipped you with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. For this position, specialized experience includes performing a variety of assignments with direction from the engineer in charge or a senior technician including:
performing material testing; compiling, computing, plotting, and checking a variety of data for projects that demonstrates knowledge in engineering surveying and investigation, and design practices and structures; and using CADD to prepare sketches, drawings, diagrams and charts for excavation, embankment, structures, triangulation, profiles and traverses, etc., assisting field engineering staff in staking out work; OR Substitution of Education for Specialized
Experience:
Successful completion of one full year of graduate education in a discipline such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR A combination of education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Combinations of experience and education must total at least 100% as outlined in OPM Qualifications policy. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
